Mrs. Julie Clement , 1st & 2nd Grade/Vice Principal
Mrs. Clement returned to her Santa Barbara roots in 2012, bringing 23 years teaching experience in the Diocese of Oakland. She joins the La Purisima family after three years teaching 1st grade at Notre Dame School in Santa Barbara.  She graduated with honors from Cal Poly SLO in Child Development before earning a teaching credential from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA and her MS in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University in 2005.
A life-long learner, Mrs. Clement is always looking to continue her education in order to serve her students more effectively. Teaching using the Blended Learning model will allow her opportunities to continue to learn and grow as a teacher, and to be creative in serving her La Purisima students.  She helped coordinate the Oakland Diocesan Young Authors Fair and her Dominican curriculum work was shared with other schools across the nation.
Two of the gifts she brings to share with the community are her passion for art, reading, and writing, along with her love of God. Helping her students discover the many ways to pray, make meaningful connections to the celebration of Mass, and develop a devotion to the Rosary is important to her. She cannot imagine teaching without God at the center of her classroom and being able to share her faith with her students.
For fun, Mrs. Clement enjoys time outdoors at the beach, going to concerts, and adding color to the world with flowers. She misses her grandkids and playing in a Fantasy Football League.
